OLMA Luxury Holdings makes a significant investment in Caviar House & Prunier Group

A century-old pioneer of French gastronomy, which is a leading brand in the global caviar market

Peter G. Rebeiz, Chairman & CEO of Caviar House & Prunier Group, the Swiss holding company of the group together with OLMA Luxury Holdings, an investment company focusing on experiential and digital luxury have joined forces to continue the development of the leading fine food brands, “CAVIAR HOUSE”, “PRUNIER” and “BALIK”.

This new stake by OLMA Luxury Holdings includes a significant capital injection into Caviar House & Prunier Group allowing the group to continue its development as one of the largest and most influential Caviar producing and fine food distributing companies in the world.

Caviar House & Prunier Group, with its portfolio of iconic and prestigious brands, some close to 150 years old, is today an iconic player in the global gastronomy and world of fine foods intertwined with the world of fashion through the implication of Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent and their passion for fine living, fashion and culture.

As a result of the demise of both Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent, OLMA Luxury holdings has purchased the majority stake from Jean-Francis Bretelle in Caviar House & Prunier Group.

Caviar House & Prunier: a century-old pioneer of French gastronomy, which is a leading brand in the global caviar market

Peter G. Rebeiz formed Caviar House & Prunier Group SA in 2004 with Pierre Bergé, Yves Saint Laurent and Jean Francis Bretelle through the merger of Prunier and Caviar House in 2004. The group is an iconic fine-food brand specialising in the production and distribution of caviar, smoked salmon and other fine food products and is one of the world's leading caviar pioneers.

Prunier, founded in 1872 in Paris by Emile Prunier, is an emblematic and forward-thinking century-old brand, which created the first Oyster and Champagne bar in 1872 (in Paris), the first Caviar producer outside of the Caspian Sea in 1920 and which went on to establish the world's oldest caviar farm and processing centre in France during the 1990s. Prunier is today the standard-bearer of French caviar and gastronomic art de vivre worldwide.

Caviar House, a world reference in caviar trading since its foundation in the 1950s, is the largest importer of Iranian caviar globally and the brand is recognised universally for its quality, presence in major airports, and its prestigious and innovative selections of caviar such as Almas, Imperial and Royal Black.

Balik, founded in 1978, is universally considered the ultimate reference for fine smoked salmon. The Balik brand became recognised globally in particular with its introduction worldwide in 1984 with the smoked fillet of Salmon. The Balik fillet of salmon has since been copied and reproduced by nearly every smoker of salmon in the world since its introduction.

It created its first smokehouse in 1978 in the Swiss alpine foothills, built by the grandson of the last master smokehouse operator for Tsar Nicholas II and the Imperial Court of Russia.

A vertically integrated global brand

Caviar House & Prunier Group is a historic and vertically integrated group controlling the entire value chain, from production to distribution: the group manufactures more than 75.000 tins of caviar per year in France and over 350 tons of unique farm-raised salmon.

It is widely acknowledged as crafting one of the finest products in adequation with the highest standards of quality and CSR practices.
