For this year's Milan Design Week, online marketplace Artemest, which offers a selection of high-end, handcrafted Italian furniture, lighting and decor, asked six international companies to design rooms in a historic Milanese apartment using pieces sourced from its makers.
21/04/2023 LUXURY PORTFOLIO INTERNATIONALThe Appartamento, a 1930s-era apartment at Via Cesare Correnti 14, celebrates Italian craftsmanship and design.
"We wanted to bring this beautiful apartment back to life and show how different interior design studios, each with their own style and approach to design, can work with Artemest to create inspiring and surprising interiors that celebrate authentic Italian beauty," said Ippolita Rostagno, founder and creative director of Artemest, in a statement.
In the room
For this project, the designers sourced 130 pieces from Artemest's Milan site.
The entrance, designed by T.ZED Architects, which has offices in Dubai and Luxembourg, highlights the light that penetrates the apartment, as well as its historical features, with the help of mirrors and carpets scattered over the original parquet floors.
In the hallway, designed by French designer Anne-Sophie Pailleret, who also designed the studio, the apartment's only empty space is made up of textured wallpaper, ceramic tiles and modern wall sculptures.
Dublin-based Kingston Lafferty Design installed a stunning mirrored sculpture in the center of the living room and added colorful sculptural furniture.
A monochromatic palette highlights the original finishes in the dining room, designed by Houston-based Nina Magon, while artistic furniture and decor add a contemporary touch.
The bedroom is also inspired by the building's origins. Dubai-based Styled Habitat was inspired by the romantic feel of the 1930s.
Finally, the terrace was decorated in a tropical spirit, with bright colors and layered patterns, by Miami-based MONIOMI Design.
The entire apartment was enhanced by a custom perfume by Artemest and Cereria Pernici 1892.
Appartamento is on public display from April 18 to 23.
